Jen and I (Pat) met at in Gainesville at the Maria Alvarez Imperial Dance Studio in 2000. I had been teaching ballroom and latin dancing to help put myself through graduate school, and Jen had just graduated from pharmacy school.

After dating for two years, we got married on Oct 5, 2002 at Westside Baptist Church. We honeymooned at the Moon Palace Resort in Cancun Mexico. The next year, I graduated with my Ph.D. in nursing from the University of Florida. Shortly after that, I interviewed at Palm Beach Atlantic University (PBA) and got a job as a nursing professor helping them to start a new nursing program. PBA is a private Christian university. Jen was able to transfer within the VA system and works for the VA hospital as a pharmacist.
